The Lip Balm Line Up

Feb 10, 2015

If you suffer from dry or dehydrated lips, I would like to suggest 6 lip treatments that will pamper your lips right in time for Valentine's Day:

1. The retro lip balm
Smith's Rosebud Salve ($7.50)
This is one of these things I like to keep around; the vintage tin is just so pretty. Don't be fooled by its delicate packaging and rose scent, this light pink balm is great for chapped lips and also for cuticles. A great stocking stuffer gift.

2. The medical lip balm
Uriage Bariéderm Soothing Repair Barrier Lip Balm ($11.95)
This one doesn't come in a pretty packaging, but it doesn't matter since it provides instant and long-lasting relief. I like its airy and comforting texture that helps heal cracked lips. Perfect for snow bunnies.

3. The high tech lip balm
SkinCeuticals Antioxidant Lip Repair ($39)
This is not your average lip balm. It's a white lotion that you massage onto your lips to exfoliate dead skin cells and prevent premature aging. Although I can't tell at this stage if it helps to smooth deep lines, my lips are definitely softer and fuller thanks to this lip treatment. For the antioxidant junkie.

4. The no-fuss lip balm
Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue ($4.66)
If you like Vicks, you'll definitely enjoy using this medicated lip balm formulated with eucalyptus and menthol. There is something so refreshing about applying a good old minty balm to smooth wind-chapped lips on the go. A fun budget buy.

5. The innovative lip balm
Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil  ($23)
This is an exciting kind of lip treatment formulated with plant oils. It has a delicious honey taste and a texture similar to a thick lipgloss but without any stickiness. I just love the sleek packaging, the soothing formula and the big sponge applicator. Absolutely addictive.

6. The deluxe lip balm
Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm ($17)
I keep this healing salve on my nightstand. Since it is quite a thick waxy paste, I prefer to use it before going to bed. I let it work its magic while I sleep and always wake up to the softest lips. A precious find with a divine citrus scent.
Discovered any must-have lip balm lately?

  1. Hi Catherine,

My lips get dry and cracked in the winter, a disaster when wearing red lipstick (my favorite!) I like the Sugar Lip Polish by Fresh. Have you tried it? I'm intrigued by SkinCeuticals Antioxidant Lip Repair. It's pricey, but it sounds like you've had great results. Do you use it daily?

I really enjoy your blog, thanks! - jayme.

    1. Hi Jayme, I love this scrub too! It's quite efficient. Do you you also know the one from Lush? It's quite nice. I use the Lip Repair daily. But if your lips are currently cracked, why don't you try the Nuxe lip balm at night? That's what I do when I need a major "lip intervention". Good luck with that! Catherine
