Sandal Envy

Jan 31, 2014

I know exactly what you are going to say. We are in the dead of winter, we all have dry and dull skin and we are probably all dreaming of sipping hot chocolate or escaping to a warm and sunny destination. So why in the world am I showing you these summer sandals? Well, last week, I was invited by Winners to have a look at the upcoming spring trends and I had a major crush on these jewelled strappy flat sandals. I already see myself strolling around town or drinking a refreshing sangria on a rooftop terrace wearing these adorable sandals. A girl can always dream!

Enjoy your weekend!

Dainty Hair Pin

Jan 30, 2014

While I usually leave my hair loose because it makes me feel sassy and fabulous, I sometimes enjoy wearing a nice hair pin for a chic and pulled together look. This hair pin is right up my alley! Don't you love the little things that makes your day just a tad brighter?

Sarah Jessica Parker's New Shoe Collection

Jan 24, 2014

I am so smitten by these glamorous shots of Sarah Jessica Parker's brand new shoe collection. Did you know that she partnered with no one else than Manolo Blahnik on this elegant project? If someone knows shoes, it's most definitively the legendary Carrie Bradshaw. I heard that each shoe features a minimalist SJP monogram. Just can't wait to see these colourful babies closer up!

Wishing you a warm and fabulous weekend!

Two Teas To Prevent Afternoon Sugar Cravings

Jan 22, 2014

I don't know about you but I tend to crave sugar like crazy around three o'clock in the afternoon.

While it can be tempting to snack on candies and chocolate, we all know it's not the healthiest thing to do. Indulging in sweets can be satisfying for a few minutes, but it can eventually wreak havoc on your waistline, your skin and your teeth.

It can be a bit daunting to get back to a balanced routine and to manage cravings following a festive holiday season. What seems to be working for me at the moment is to drink a nice cup of tea to keep me invigorated and warm (hello minus -22C!). And I don't mean your usual green or earl grey tea. The ones I enjoy mid-day are delightfully aromatic, not too caffeinated and sometimes not even caffeinated, they have a colourful (read pink) shade and most importantly, they are sweet and fruity.

Here are my latest finds to curb the afternoon sugar crush:

Described as a favorite amongst almond lover, this herbal tea has a strikingly sweet smell of apple, almonds and cinnamon. The smell alone can ease your mind, it's simply divine! It actually reminds me of warm slice of apple pie. How lovely is that! Once you steep it, you will be captivated by the alluring pink hue, which will gradually appear in your cup. This bright "crazy shade of pink" comes from a magic ingredient: beetroot. And not only does it smell and look beautiful, it has a real comforting taste. No wonder it's a bestseller at David's Tea!

If you are at work and you are dreaming of having a drink (because it's five o'clock somewhere in the world), you will be thrilled to discover this enchanting and fragrant tea. This blend offers a fascinating mix of oolong tea, dried fruits such as apples, pineapples and white grapes, pink rose buds and petals and "a hint of bubbly champagne". The first time I smelled it, I thought I was smelling champagne with strawberries to tell you the truth. Perhaps the name had something to do with it. You see, just last week, when I went to purchase my first tin of this blend, it was then called Strawberry Rosé Champagne Oolong tea. Don't ask me why they changed the name a few days ago, I have no idea. I thought the previous name was more elegant, but that's just me. In the end, none of this really matters once you sip the light peachy pink tea because it's a joyful tea to drink! I am convinced that it would also be terrific served iced during a summer afternoon. A must!

I hope you'll enjoy my picks. And remember, no pinkies up!

On A Bad Day, There's Always Lipstick

Jan 16, 2014

We have been told there are two certainties in life: taxes and death. To this list, I would add two others: on a tough day, there will always be lipstick and shoes to bring joy to my world. Of course, I don't run to buy myself a new pair of shoes everytime I have a tough day. But I have a confession to make, I am the kind of gal who enjoys indulging in a new lipstick every now and then when I am sad, overwhelmed or simply annoyed with life. It might be some kind of coping mecanism, but I don't feel it's an unhealthy one! It allows me to take a step back and to look at the world in a different light. I would even say that it brings me solace and courage to carry on with my day. And the best part is that it works every time! I'm convinced I am not the only woman who can fully grasp why lipstick sales are so robusts during a crisis or a recession.

Although I can't wait for spring to come to wear my coral lipsticks more often, I must say that lately I have been enticed by soft pinks and nudes hues. If you are curious to know what were my latest pick me up lipsticks, here they are below:

The Year Of The Radiant Orchid: Style & Sweets

Jan 10, 2014

The week following the Holidays can be pretty dreadful, especially when it's cold and monocromaticly (I know, I just invented a word!) grey outside. For me, the most difficult part during the first days of January is the transition from a festive mode with lavish displays of food and drinks to an everyday routine where green tea replaces Christmas punch and spinach replaces mash potatoes. You definitively need quite a few days to adjust to a new rhythm. But now that it's Friday and that we all have gone back to our good eating habits (haven't we all??), it's time to tantalize you with some stylish and sweet finds in the Pantone Color of the year, radiant orchid.

Who wouldn't want to kickstart the long-awaited weekend with an irresistible lavender macaron? Enjoy your weekend!

Winter Skin Saviors: My Top Beauty Tips

Jan 8, 2014

Is your skin suffering from the polar vortex that is currently hitting the East Coast? If your face is dry, flaky and dull from venturing out in the harsh winter cold, there are a few beauty tips I would like to share with you:

1. Drink plenty of water to replenish your beauty from within. When it's simply too cold to drink water, I like to switch to green tea or herbal tea to keep me warm and cosy.
2. Invest in a humidifier for your bedroom. Not only will this help comfort your skin, it will also help prevent nasal congestion. I saw a major improvement the first year I bought mine. And don't forget to buy a new filter every winter to keep your air safe and clean.
3. Slather on sunscreen to prevent further skin damage and protect your skin from the UV rays, which are being reflected by the snow. An SPF 30 or a broader spectrum is mandatory.
4. Clean your face with a mild cream or milk cleanser instead of using a gel or a liquid one, which will not only remove your makeup and impurities but also the precious oils that keep your face moisturized and glowing.
5. Exfoliate your skin a few times a week in order to gently melt away the layer of dead skin. This step is crucial and will help seal in the moisture more effectively.

Since moisturizing is key when dealing with winter woes, here are my favorite moisturizing mask, serum and creams to treat your face to a much-needed TLC:

The Year Of The Radiant Orchid: Decor Inspiration

Jan 6, 2014

Hello 2014! I hope you all had a joyful holiday season and that you are now ready to kick-start the new year with loads of energy and enthusiasm. If you are still feeling a bit sluggish from too much festivities and not enough rest, I thought I'd infuse some zest into your cold and grey Monday with a colorful post.

Every new year, a new it color is born. Following the elegant emerald, the Pantone Color Institute has designated radiant orchid as the official color of 2014. According to the color gurus located in New Jersey, this vibrant purple "encourages creativity and originality".

In hopes of inspiring you, I would like to share with you how some designers have incorporated the fascinating hue into chic home decors. Isn't a feast for the eyes?
