I'm so glad I don't have to choose.

As I am settling into a new flat, in a new neighbourhood with a completely new decor, today I am feeling grateful for the love and abundance in my life. I am seriously excited about the opportunity to create a warm and inspiring environment for myself and I am also eager to discover new eateries, coffee shops, luscious parks and cool stores near my flat.

Change can be daunting, but change can also be thrilling. It's always a question of perspective as they say.

Have a great long weekend and happy packing and unpacking for those of you who will be moving soon!

Chic Bar Carts

Jun 24, 2013

Even if you are not hosting cocktail parties every week, having a chic bar area at home is an essential decor element. Thanks to Mad Men and The Great Gatsby bar carts are making a big comeback nowadays. I couldn't be more thrilled about it! Seriously, what is more, glamorous than a bar cart filled with a few of your favorite liquors (champagne of course!), beautiful glassware, an ice bucket, pretty napkins, a bowl of citrus as well as a small bouquet of your favorite flowers (peonies or maybe ranunculus)?

The best thing about having a bar cart at home is that it makes entertaining a breeze since you can easily move it next to your guests. Not only is it convenient when friends pop out, but it's also a great conversation piece. You can also style it with interesting coffee table books, whimsical paintings, fancy mirrors and unique objects from recent or past trips to express your unique personality. It will give your guests plenty to talk about!

To give you some inspiration, I thought I'd share with you some sophisticated gold bar carts that have caught my attention lately. Fancy a drink?

Headboard Frenzy

Jun 18, 2013

Since I launched my blog, most of my posts have been fashion and beauty related, with a few stories about my favorite food indulgence or gourmandises as I like to call them (like this one and that one). Now that I am about to move into a new apartment, in a new neighbourhood with a fresh new decor, I thought that this could be a great opportunity for me to share my great interest in interior design.

Let's start with the master bedroom! I have always thought that the bedroom is the most personal room in a house. It's a place where we kick-off the day and where we land at the end of a busy day, therefore it's should be warm and cosy. To me, my bedroom is my own private sanctuary. It's where I sleep, I dream, I meditate and also where I read all snug up in my bed at night.

When I started to think about the decor of my next bedroom, the first thing that came to mind was the idea of having a beautiful headboard. I have always been particularly fond of the 1930s Hollywood Regency style and though I am not sure yet if I will do bold wallpaper, lacquered drawer, lucite chair, mirrored nightstands (this I might do actually), chinoiseries and blue foo dogs, one thing is sure I am definitively getting a glamorous tufted headboard!

Here are a few mesmerizing bedrooms featuring glitzy and opulent headboards that have recently inspired me to create my own stylish master bedroom:

Ok, the last one is not technically a tufted headboard, but it is certainly decorative and chic, wouldn't you agree?

Happy 150th Bourjois!

Jun 13, 2013

I don't know about you, but to me perfumed candles are just like lipsticks, I could never settle for just one.

On a recent accessory hunt for my new apartment, I discovered this girly pink candle launched to celebrate the 150th anniversary of French make-up brand Bourjois. Known for its cute round pot of blushes and eye shadows, the Parisian company has created this limited edition candle with their iconic rose scent to mark this important milestone. The bright candle features Babette, a flapper-like character, which was invented by the brand in 1924. Very Gatsby isn't? Can't wait to get mine!

Friday I'm In Love

Jun 7, 2013

"I avoid looking back. I prefer good memories to regrets."
Grace Kelly

This Friday, I am in love with this magnificent portrait of Grace Kelly. I had the chance to visit From Philadelphia to Monaco: Grace Kelly - Beyond the Icon, which has just opened at the McCord Museum in Montreal. If you are fond of the timeless style and classic beauty of this fashion icon, you will adore this exhibit. It features many glamorous outfits especially designed for her by Givenchy, Chanel, Balenciaga and Edith Head, the famous costume designer who worked with Kelly on various movie sets. Aside from seeing many of her chic dresses, I was breathless when I read the love letters Prince Rainier sent her at the beginning of their courtship. What a beautiful love story!
