Dutch 2012 Olympic Uniforms by Adidas |
We have all heard by now about the controversy regarding the American uniforms for the Olympics. In case you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, I'll fill you in. Ralph Lauren was mandated to design the formal uniforms for Team USA. But once they were shown to the public, someone discovered that they were in fact manufactured in China. I guess that's what they call globalization.
Now enough with the polemic. Instead, let's take a look at some of the uniforms, which will either be worn at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies or during the competitions.

British 2012 Olympic Uniforms by Stella McCartney for Adidas |
Stella McCartney went highly technical with tight-fitting uniforms, which are displaying the Union Jack flag. I heard that she designed over 590 different models to cover all the disciplines. Impressive!

Über-colorful outfits! Isn't it surprising that the German decided to go with really bright outfits?

Italian 2012 Olympic Uniforms by Armani |
After designing haute couture, ready-to-wear, an array of accessories, home interiors and sumptuous wedding dresses (Charlene Wittstock anyone?), it is not surprising to see Armani create the uniforms for Team Italy. Why I am not surprised to see a lot of black?

Jamaican 2012 Olympic Uniform by Cedella Marley for Puma |
Preppy, preppy, isn't that surprising? This picture actually looks like an ad for Ralph Lauren!
Which uniforms are your favorites?
I personally find the pictures of the Dutch team quite humorous. It must be their attitude combined with the punch of color. Very cool!
